Most Worshipful Grand Master, 1910-1911

G. Roscoe Swift was born in Paines Hollow, New York, on January 2, 1861, and spent his first seventeen years on a farm. He taught school for three years, and then attended Adrian College for three years.

Mr. Swift purchased the book and stationery business of Mr. Charles Humphrey, and successfully operated the business for many years.

He was raised as a Master Mason on November 18, 1896 in Adrian Lodge, No. 19. He was Worshipful Master of this lodge for two years, 1903 and 1904. He received the degrees of York Rite Masonry in Adrian chapter, No. 10, Royal Arch Masons, all on the evening of April 13, 1899. He was also a Royal and Select Mason of Adrian Council, No. 18, Royal and Select Masons, and a Knight Templar of Adrian Commandery, No. 4, of which he was also a Past Commander. He was also a member of Adrian Chapter, No. 112, Order of the Eastern Star.

He was elected Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge of Michigan at its Annual Communication in 1905. He was elected to succeeding positions, until he was elected to Most Worshipful Grand Master in 1910.

He died on July 12, 1944.
