Most Worshipful Grand Master, 1918-1919

Hugh A. McPherson, was born on March 22, 1864, at Easter Dallullich, in the Parish of Croy, in Inverness-shire, Scotland. He came to the United States at the age of seventeen and became a citizen as soon as the laws would permit.

He chose banking as his profession. He was the cashier of the McPherson State Bank, in Howell, Michigan.

He was raised as a Master Mason in Howell Lodge No. 38 on March 6, 1888. He was elected Treasurer of his Lodge in 1889 and was annually re-elected to that office until 1897. He was elected Senior Warden in 1907 and Worshipful Master in 1908-1909 and in 1910. He was also elected Treasurer in 1911 and reelected annually until 1918. He was a member and Past High Priest of Livingston Chapter No. 30, Royal Arch Masons, a member and Past Thrice Illustrious Master of Livingston Council No. 73, Royal and Select Masons, a member and Past Eminent Commander of Howell Commandery No. 28, Knights Templar, a member of Michigan Sovereign Consistory, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and of Moslem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.

He was elected Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge, F. &. A.M., of the State of Michigan at its Annual Communication held in the City of Detroit in 1912, and was promoted each year until his election as Most Worshipful Grand Master, on May 29, 1918.

He died on September 20, 1945.
